We’re off to the 2014 EDAC Conference

In a couple of days, Trudy, Brock, Paul, Jason and Sarah from the MDB Insight team will be gathering in Calgary to attend the EDAC Conference. We always look forward to opportunities like this to meet up with the economic development community and share some of what we’ve been up to recently. If you’ll be at the EDAC Conference, stop by our Hospitality Suite on Sunday evening from 8:30-11 pm and take an opportunity to connect, catch up and join the conversation about what’s new and next in economic development.

This year, we’ll also have a booth set up highlighting a couple of initiatives we’re pretty excited about. The first is PlaceVantage, a new cultural mapping tool we’re launching at the Conference. Cultural mapping helps communities to identify and leverage their cultural assets. These assets are part of the quality of place that attracts people, talent and investment to communities. PlaceVantage brings together a Cultural Resource Framework and interactive map of a community’s cultural landscape, as well as insights into cultural stories and events, to give a full view of local culture and identity.

The second is the Jobs Demand Report, a tool we provide in partnership with VicinityJobs. We launched VicinityJobs a year ago to bring local labour market intelligence to every community across Canada. The real-time Jobs Demand Report gives insight into regional hiring trends, a key indicator of local economic activity, and offers valuable information to inform education and training decisions as well as local strategies for talent attraction and retention.

We’ll have both of these tools available at our booth for you to try for yourself. Come visit us at booth 10 and check them out.

See you in Calgary!
