Study leads to development of interactive industry incubator in Niagara region

Brock University Media, Niagara, Ontario

In cooperation with Brock University and Interactive Ontario, MDB Insight coordinated a feasibility study to assess the potential of the interactive media industry and to create a strategic plan for growing the industry in the Niagara Region of Ontario.

The work included extensive industry and community consultations, detailed feasibility analysis, and the mobilization of key community partners to make political and financial commitments to the larger cluster development effort.

NGen incubator drives investment

The project recommended the creation of the nGen incubator facility, which has brought numerous businesses and investments to Niagara.

MDB Insight was then re-hired to develop a significant and wide-ranging funding application to the Ontario Media Development Corporation on a very short timeline, resulting in a successful request for nearly $300,000 in start-up funding.

Ongoing NGen success

The Niagara Interactive Media Generator (nGen) has launched a new facility, “the Generator at one“, in downtown St. Catharines. The new facility, which is equipped with cutting edge digital interactive media technologies, provides core business services and enables companies to create entire media projects in one location. The Generator at one is intended to aid in the continued development of the digital interactive media cluster in Niagara by fostering new enterprises and uniting the industry with partners in economic development and postsecondary education.
