Lauren began her professional career as a senior planner with the Toronto firm Walker Wright Young before moving to a position as senior portfolio planner with the Management Board Secretariat and Ontario Realty Corporation.
In 1995, Lauren joined Coopers & Lybrand, rising to the position of Vice-President in the series of corporate mergers that produced PricewaterhouseCoopers. As her work and interests moved away from traditional urban planning and into the economic development field, Lauren helped to launch MDB to help communities and organizations wrestling with a shifting global economy.
Lauren’s past clients are a diverse group, representing public and private sector interests from across North America, including senior levels of government in both Ontario and Alberta. She is adept at synthesizing a broad range of interests and achieving outcomes that are widely supported by all stakeholders. Her work includes economic development strategies, cultural development and planning, and community based marketing and investment attraction efforts. She has developed strategies for some of Canada’s fastest growing communities and regions.
Lauren holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Honours Planning) degree from the University of Waterloo and is both a Registered Professional Planner and a Member of the Canadian Institute of Planners. She has served for several years as Director on the Board of the Economic Developers Council of Ontario and in 2010 served as President of that organization. Her volunteer work has included the Toronto Board of Trade’s Economic Development Committee and she is currently on the Board of Directors for Jane’s Walk and Woodgreen Community Services.
Born in Brockville, Ontario, Lauren now lives in Toronto’s Beach neighbourhood with her husband Nigel and son Cameron.
