Lyndon Ashton

Lyndon joined MDB Insight in 2014. Since joining the firm, he has played an integral role in its labour market and workforce development work, as well as in economic development, and municipal and corporate strategic planning projects.

As an Economic Development practitioner, Lyndon has worked in regional and municipal environments focused on small business development, investment attraction and business retention and expansion activities. He has been responsible for the development and delivery of various sector based profiles and directories, as well as organizing project teams of public and private sector stakeholders for  investment attraction and to support supply chain connectivity, business expansion, and job creation.

Lyndon has significant experience in targeting, lead generation, and the alignment of local assets and value propositions to meet investor needs. This includes advanced market research, analysis, performance measurement, and reporting for internal and external audiences. With strong project management and skills in community-based engagement, Lyndon acts as researcher and facilitator, and liaison resulting in the effective project outcomes.

Lyndon has a combined degree in Political Science and Labour Studies from Brock University. During his graduating year he received the prestigious Dean’s Medal for Social Sciences, and was the recipient of the Dean’s Good Writing Award for his paper on the Authoritative Capacity of Nation States under Economic Globalization. He has also published in Canadian Government Executive Magazine on the reality of partisan influence in municipal politics, while serving on the IPAC Hamilton Regional Group, Executive Committee. In 2012, Lyndon also received the Top 40 under 40 Business Achievement Award for his role in supporting Niagara’s economy through outstanding public service in local economic development.

Hailing from the Niagara Region, Lyndon has lived across Ontario and British Columbia in various sized communities and cities. He currently resides in Hamilton with his wife and daughter.
