Marina joined MDB Insight as a Development Analyst in 2017.

Previously, she worked as an analyst at Edmonton Economic Development Corporation (EEDC), a non-profit of the City of Edmonton that supports local economic growth through trade and investment, tourism, and building a sustainable and innovative economy. While at EEDC, Marina conducted research, wrote economic and market analysis reports, and provided strategy recommendations for Edmonton’s various economic development projects. She has also worked as a consultant for strategy and business consulting firm, Progress Unlimited, where she was tasked to research the economic landscapes of rural communities in Northern Alberta and evaluate their areas of strength.

Marina brings her love of research and data analysis to the MDB Insight team, as well as her dedication to providing innovative solutions for communities. Her economic development interests include: emerging industry and cluster development; economic growth through entrepreneurship and the maker movement; and place branding strategy to position communities as destinations for business and tourism.

Marina has a Bachelor of Communication from Mount Royal University in Calgary and an Honours Bachelor of Social Science in International Economics and Development from the University of Ottawa. She grew up in west-central rural Alberta and has since lived in three major Canadian cities: Calgary, Ottawa, and Edmonton. She loves to explore new places in Canada and right now she is happy to call Kingston, Ontario home.
